A dentist, also known as a dental surgeon, is a doctor who specializes in dentistry the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases and conditions of the oral cavity. They are the people who decide if your mouth needs teeth pulled out, braces, or just a cleaning.
Eduction for dentists usually require a major in one of four different types of sciences in college. The four are Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Biochemistry. Then they must take a Dental Program whilst in a Dental school which can take up to around four years. Once they pass and graduate they must pass a test from the state that requires all potential dentists to take. Once they pass that they are able to become dentists.
